Junkanoo
The National Festival of The Bahamas known as Junkanoo, is an expression of Bahamian art and culture. Beginning in the wee hours of the morning, many large and small groups parade in the streets of downtown Nassau with elaborate costumes, choreograph and free dancing to the thunderous sound of goatskin drums, cowbells, horns, brass players, and whistles as thousands watch and dance along. Junkanoo is held each year on Boxing Day (December 26th) and New Year’s Day (January 1st).
